In August 2004 we founded the „European Association for Horse Assisted Education (EAHAE)“. We chose this name because we did not want to compete with EGEA in the United States of America and stick to Europe. We took „Horse“ instead of „Equine“ because for Europeans it is more common, we thought that „equine“ sounds too scientific.
Of course, today there are plenty of names for almost the same topic: using the help of horses to develop or heal people: equine guided leadership development, equine-assisted learning, equine-assisted coaching, horse assisted coaching etc.
When we got more and more EAHAE members from other continents, we decided to change the name to „EAHAE International Association for Horse Assisted Education“. The five letters are unique on Google; that’s why we did not alter the first E to I. On the other hand, EAHAE also stands for „Equine AHA Experience“ :-).
